Lists and Groups
From MailUp wiki
Is fundamental to understand the difference between List of recipients and Groups of recipients to address your newsletters to the right targets of costumers.
List of Recipients
Is the first level you can use to partition your recipients.
Different lists include different services you want to bring to the customers: for example a Sports newsletter and a Videogames newsletter can be sent to two different groups, each one with its own set of subscribers, unsubscribers and configuration options.
For example, if you want to send newsletters to recipients from different countries, you can create one List for each country so each list can receive the message in the right language, each one with a different header and logo.
Working with lists, is possible for a recipient to subscribe to a list and unsubscribe to another one, receiving only the newsletters with the right content based on the List target and on the content the customer choose to receive.
Also, in each list you can:
- Customize Header and Footer
- Customize the message you send to recipients when they subscribe or unsubscribe
- Customize the messages shown to the recipients when they interact with MailUp (like "Subscription successfully completed" or "The address is not recorded into our database").
Groups of Recipients
It's a second level to partition the recipients. It's possible to split every list of users in several groups, each one with more specific characteristic.
Groups are meant to identify common features of the recipients within a list, to increase the effectiveness of your campaigns.
In the example of a sports newsletter, you may create a group for each sport (Basket, Soccer, Volley, etc..) and then send different newsletters for each sport to recipients who are specifically interested in that sport.
